Innovators are Our Partners for Success
Innovators support over 250,000 children every year throughout Southern California, many from disadvantaged and under-served school districts. Vital contributions from Innovators fund science outreach programs, professional development for teachers, and world-class interactive traveling exhibits at the Cube.
Join the Innovators and become an ambassador and advocate of science education. Make an impact now and for generations to come.
Innovator Impact: Supporting Our Mission
Discovery Cube’s mission is to inspire and educate young minds through engaging science based programs and exhibits to create a meaningful impact throughout Southern California. Focused on four core initiatives: STEM Proficiency, Environmental Stewardship, Early Learning and Healthy Living, Discovery Cube’s programs aim to bring children and science together in a fun learning environment that promotes wellness, school readiness and science literacy. Discovery Cube’s reach extends far beyond the walls of the physical science center to provide in-school science education programs for students and professional development for teachers that incorporates hands-on science learning with Next Generation Science Standards.
Supporting our Signature Programs
Science Explorer Field Trips
School groups visiting DC on field trips receive: (1) pre-visit lesson plans to help teachers prepare students for their visit; (2) grade-specific exhibit guides which include activities for home; (3) an interactive science demonstration that brings classroom lessons to life; (4) table-top stations for one-on-one learning experiences; and (5) a “Come Again” student pass to return to DC with their families.
Science to Go Outreach Programs
In-school or after-school hands-on, interactive programs are provided by DC’s experienced, credentialed team of educators. There is a full range of grade-specific programs designed to reinforce and enhance classroom lessons, with everything from assemblies for over a hundred students to lab experiences with just a handful of students and multi-day workshops after school.
Future Scientists & Engineers of America (FSEA) Science Kits
FSEA science kits guide students through grade-specific hands-on projects that increase knowledge and develop skills vital to the workplace, such as working together as a team, developing and testing hypotheses, solving problems, and much more. The science kits are offered free of charge to 1,600 students in underserved Orange County schools each year.
Professional Development for K-12 Educators
Teachers are invited to workshops, evenings of science and offered free admission and membership in Teacher Education Network (TEN). These programs increase their knowledge of science concepts, introduce cutting-edge methods of instruction, and provide high quality lesson plans and activity materials so they may confidently teach science in the classroom.
